I am in Michigan, and today we hit lower 50's. I hit a local permission that I have really tore up in the past. I figured it was picked over pretty good so it was a good place to start.

The ground is pretty clean, with only modern trash and coin. I set up on GM Power and set out.
I dug a pul tab, then a hunk of slaw, Then a penny. Then it was 10 more pennies. Over all i dug more pennies than trash. The trash i dug was me trying to find a nickle or a ring, and by the end of my 2.5hour hunt, i was able to distinguish between a "Clean tone" and a "scratchy tone". I was able to know i was getting a junk, but i dug anyhow to confirm.
Pinpoint was easy to pick-up. I wiggled the coil, pulled it back and dug my target.
I really wanted to get some other denominations of coins, But honestly, I don't think there was any there. Back in December, I really hit this spot, and pulled over 50 coins out of it. Its about 60'x100' and I have swung on it 3 times at least. Well over 100 coins have come out of there. Today, I hit some lower trash signals, and then i hit the higher penny tone. Only a few tones higher than 84, and they were slaw i think.

Overall, i was pleased with my first trip out. The tones were much different than I was used to, but i picked up on them pretty quick. It was very nice, to NOT hear all the falsing.

Temps in the 50's for the next week.  I will get more swing time.

GM Power program has one issue, Silencer is set to 2. I run Reactivity 1 Silencer 0 usually, if I get into trash, change Reactivity to 2 or 3, but ALWAYS go in and set Silencer to 0. (2 is hurting your depth).

Thanks Damian. I didn't last long in GMpower. I went to switching things around like any good rookie will do, and i landed on The Sifter program i loaded after watching a video. I really like that. I know its not a deep program, but i am hitting a local area for shallow coins, just to get the feel of the Deus. I really like it, and have gained some good confidence in a short period. I have dug some coins down past 6" and a few close to 8".  Yesterday, I dug a small crushed can at 13-14". It was about 1.25"dia. I am very impressed and pleased with the Deus so far.

Awesome. I've heard good things about Sifter, but haven't tried it. However, that program was put out by Gary who hunts in England. Their soil is different. Andy Sabisch told me Disc 6.5-10 is ideal for us in the US and doesn't effect depth. Makes the Deus perform better, something about the horseshoe not working right at very low Disc.

Secondly, why turn off Iron Volume? I guess when you're in trash and know there's iron it's ok, but if you're out in a field, hearing iron tells you that you may be near an old house site. Personal pref, I like to hear it.

Just keep on your ground balance. I used to pump, but lately have been starting in tracking then after it gets a lock, switching to manual. You can then drop it a couple points for more depth. Tracking in v3.2 isn't great in high trash, it can null out targets. But that's supposed to improve when 4 is out (soon), should be able to stay in tracking all the time. Which is good because my soil is mineralized here.

I'm looking forward to easier access to the XY graph, it should show what is bottle caps and aluminum.
