I went on vacation last week, which included two days stay in Ocean City, Maryland. We had just fantastic weather. High 70s for October is great! Sadly the beach didn’t give up any rings, just some clad coins, but it was a beautiful day and I was happy to try out my big sand scoop as well as both the XP Deus and Garrett AT Pro on the wet and dry sand. Neither were ideal. I got quite a bit of falsing on the Deus and some on the ATP. I was very tempted to get a used PI machine for the hunt. The Tesoro Sand Shark for instance can be had for under $300 used. But I just don’t get to salt beaches more than once a year so I toughed it out. Enjoy!
This was also my first hunt with my new GoPro Hero 4 Black. I shot this at 1080P 60FPS. Though I’m looking forward to using it at 4K 30FPS, I don’t think my old computers could edit at that. And that would have drained the batteries fast. I think mounting on the brim of my hat worked out. I used a small digital recorder for sound, as the sound in the GoPro’s waterproof case sucks. There was still some wind noise as I only used a mesh mic cover. I have this dead cat on order for the next hunt.
As you know, I’m learning how to best shoot these hunt videos, and your feedback is appreciated!
Didn’t hear the answer to the guys question “D’you ever watch that show called Diggers?”I quite like it but I know the guys do get a bit excited for the cameras, lolGL&HH
I answered him but edited that out. So many people ask me that I kinda roll my eyes. I actually thought he was asking about American Diggers which is an abortion of a show. I hadn’t seen Diggers until last night and meh, it’s better than the former, but still hyped up reality crap makes me hurl. I enjoyed Dig Wars most of all of these shows, one can argue whether they help or hurt our hobby.
My friend. I know your time was short on the beach, however going that fast ensures that your missing around 70 percent of the ground. Have a nice day
