Someone posted their 3 day old Garrett digger bent today and so I wrote the following email to Garrett tonight. Maybe they’ll listen.
Hello all at Garrett,
I am a metal detectorist going on 5 years. I started with a Ace 250, then got an AT Pro. I’m very pleased with all Garrett products and often speak well of them, except that is for your hand digger.
Having this digger made in China hurts your reputation. I frequent the forums and also run a detecting blog, and sometimes see people ask if all your products are made in China. Not good.
Your digger is of poor quality and feels cheap. The blade is too thick and does not cut the ground cleanly. The coating on the blade begins to wear off on first use. And the opening in the sheath is too small, making pulling the blade in and out with one hand quite difficult. On top of that the stitching on the sheath is poor.
You guys should buy a Lesche, and work on a new version of your digger, preferable made in this country. This one is hurting the reputation that Charles built
