This is the XP Deus Headphone Shootout! I’ve worked very hard over the past month begging for headphones, recording headphones, and testing out headphones so you that you can get my opinion as to what are the best ones for the XP Deus. Enjoy! The headphones reviewed are the following (buying from my links helps support more review videos!) XP WS4 and puck adapter, XP WS5, Central Sounds Quantum Wireless Whispers, Deteknix Wirefree HD, Detector Pro Gray Ghosts, Vance Muffs, Chef Phones, Apple Earbuds, Samsung Earbuds.
Below the video, find my self-hosted video of the sounds (so you don’t have to listen to the tones through YouTube, which can compress things.) I will also add (check back soon) a sound board so you can click to hear each tone.
Thanks again to Andy Sabisch, Scott Clark, Brian Harvey, and Deteknix who sent headphones for this review. Links take you to their websites.
A note from Andy Sabisch about availability of these headphones
There is one factor that plays into selecting the right headphone which has not been mentioned and that is availability.
The Central Soundz Wireless Whispers are great phones and we met the guy that makes them while we were in the UK last year . . . the problem is they are hand built to order and this is not his primary job so it was taking 6+ weeks to get them in lots of 10. Combine that with the shipping and customs issues, they were just not something that were importable to meet any type of demand.
The Chefphones are also great headphones and I have used a set since I got my first Deus but the owner had severe medial issues and those that are filling in are barely able to supply UK users let alone US users.
Vance Muffs came out high in the review but people have commented that it has been difficult at best to get in touch with Jeremy of late and as such moved on to other options.
The Deteknix HD phones are produced by a company that can meet the demand and has a warranty that they will back without the need to try and repair what you have.
DetectorPro Gray Ghosts are also ready to stand behind their products as their 20+ years in business can attest to.
I guess what I am trying to say is that there are some good options out there but if you can’t get them or the warranty is not usable, is it really an option that is available?

WOW!!! That’s a lot of work. Thanks for doing all of that for us.
Thank you and you’re welcome Gene. Yes that did take some time hehe. I hope it is helpful for folks.
Damian.. I believe it will help some folks out. It only took me 3 headphone tries before I finally just got the WS5’s . I liked Vance’s sound but they were awful uncomfortable. Then the Grey Ghost’s were comfortable but sounded like …. well not good. So I bit the bullet and got the WS5’s but I think if they were available then I would have gotten the Deteknix, they seem like they would fit comfortably and sound good too. That would have saved me a bundle…lol… So maybe you will help some folks out too. Keep it up. GL & HH
Yeah my Deus came with the WS4. Got the Gray Ghost and had the same reaction. Got the WS5, Ebayed the GG and was a bit disappointed in the build quality for what I had just spent. XP stickers fell off, followed by the pads, saw what was under the pads. Great sounds though. Thanks again, hope you like my website.
